Rainforest del Ecuador Initiates the "AQUA LUNA" Bottling Plant Project

The Ministry of Environment and Water of Ecuador (MAAE) by way of resolution No. 2018-090 issued December 10, 2020, has granted Rainforest del Ecuador a concession for the capture and use of mineral water at a rate of 1.2 l/s. This resource is earmarked for bottling.
The water catchment site is located in Tungurahua Province, Ambato Canton, in the Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve. The origins of this water source is the meltwater from the glaciers covering the peak of the Chimborazo Volcano, the largest mountain in Ecuador and considered the closest point on Earth to the Sun.
The designs for the catchment site infrastructure of the Aqua Luna aquifer and the water bottling plant have begun. This project totals USD 4 million, and according to the company''s plans, the plant will be operational by the end of September 2021.
