Major strategic order for Pierburg coolant valves
(PresseBox) - Automotive supplier Rheinmetall Automotive, a member of the Technology Group Rheinmetall, is systematically expanding its product portfolio in the direction of future driveline systems without neglecting its traditional combustion engine business.
Neuss-based Pierburg GmbH, a part of Rheinmetall Automotive AG, has developed an innovative 2/2-way coolant valve for which it has now received its premier major European order from a German premium car
The valves developed and produced at the Neuss site will go into series production in the customer''s vehicles as from 2021. The total order volume is around ?50 million.
Pierburg will supply valves for a complete engine series of this OEM including 3-, 4- and 6-cylinder gasoline engines where the valve will control the coolant flow to the degas bottle and to the transmission. On the new battery-powered models of this premium manufacturer, the same valves are also used to control the cooling of the high-voltage system.
