With millions of U.S.children on psychiatric drugs it is imperative that families know that many of these drugs are known to result in suicidal ideation.

(firmenpresse) - The Florida chapter of the [Citizens Commission on Human Rights](https://www.cchrflorida.org/) (CCHR) is hosting an open house during the month of January at their center located at 109 N. Fort Harrison Ave in downtown Clearwater. The focus of the event is to educate individuals on the alarming epidemic of psychiatric abuses happening in Florida and across the world for Mental Wellness Month.

CCHR is a nonprofit watchdog organization that investigates human rights violations in the field of mental health and the chapter in Florida is host to a museum containing educational videos and informational panels on the history of psychiatry and the dangers associated with common psychiatric treatments.

With millions of children in the U.S. on [psychiatric drugs](https://www.cchrflorida.org/) it is imperative that families know the facts about the side effects of these drugs many of which are known to result in suicidal ideation and violence. The open house will shed light on exactly what these drugs are and why theyre prescribed to everyone from infants all the way up to the aging elderly. [1]

Visitors will also learn more about such barbaric treatments as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) which is not only still in use today, but recently there has been a push for ECT to be used more, especially with regard to children. CCHR started a [petition](https://www.change.org/p/florida-state-senate-ban-electroshock-ect-device-being-used-on-children-in-florida) to ban the use of the ECT device in Florida and concerned individuals are encouraged to read and sign the petition.[2]

About CCHR: Initially established by the Church of Scientology and renowned psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz in 1969, CCHRs mission is to eradicate abuses committed under the guise of mental health and enact patient and consumer protections. L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, first brought psychiatric imprisonment to wide public notice: Thousands and thousands are seized without process of law, every week, over the free world tortured, castrated, killed. All in the name of mental health, he wrote in March 1969.
