(firmenpresse) - Many haulage companies today are well aware of the importance of implementing environmentally sound practices across their business. From increasing recycling in the office to using sustainably sourced products, most haulage companies have policies in place to ensure that they are doing their bit for the planet. One of the main areas for improvement, as we all know, is fuel efficiency. Many fleet operators invest in new technology and innovative operational methods to make sure that fleets are getting the most out of their fuel.

The new award, launched recently by the Freight Transport Association, is part of the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme and is sponsored by tyre manufacturer Bridgestone. This ge of lowering carbon emissions.

What is the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme?
Formed in 2009, the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme now has over 130 members across the country. It is managed by the Freight Transport Association with the aim of showing the Government that the logistics industry is forward-thinking and ahead of the curve when it comes to the environmental impact of haulage. Their aim is to prevent the government from implementing increased regulation or extra tax for haulage companies by demonstrating the ways in which the industry is working to reduce carbon emissions.

The LCRS is looking for members who are actively employing innovative technological and operational measures to improve their carbon reduction. The award is open to all members with fleets of any size.
