Be the Best Man With a Van – Managing Your Operations
“Managing Your Operations” is a course which provides essential advice for your courier drivers, training them to operate vans more efficiently and more safely.
(firmenpresse) - There’s no time like the present to improve your operations. That’s why I’m here to tell you about the Van Excellence Scheme’s great new course “Managing Your Operations”. I’d recommend that it be part of every courier driver training course, as it provides constructive advice on how to operate vans efficiently, safely and legally. It will help you to run a smooth operation which reaches nationally-recognised standards.
What Is the Van Excellence Scheme?
Not sure what this scheme is? Allow me to explain. Facilitated and managed by the FTA, the Van Excellence Scheme was designed by expert British van operators to improve operational standards. It outlines a nationally-recognised code of good practice for drivers, known as the Van Excellence Code.
What Does the Course Cover?
Based on the best practice guidelines detailed in the Van Excellence Code, the “Managing Your Operations” course aims to increase standards across operations. It covers an array of important topics relevant to courier driver training, including:
•how to secure loads (with a discussion on restraint and overloading)
•the best and safest towing equipment
•what driving license and qualifications you need
•safety advice on speed limits and vehicle maintenance systems
Benefits of Attending
Now you’re probably thinking, ‘I’m a confident driver, I don’t need to take this course’. Don’t be too hasty, though. There are many important benefits to attending this course.
•Peace of Mind
By taking this course, you can refresh your memory about all the important guidelines concerning safety and efficiency – and you can be sure that you’re operating legally!
•Support
One of these training days will also tell you about the wealth of information available, should you have a question regarding complex issues or operational anomalies, and where to find it.
•Networking
Many courier companies attend these events, so it’s a great place to meet other industry professionals, discuss courier driver training techniques and share your ideas.
Assessment and Certification
At the end of the course, there is a multiple-choice assessment which all participants are recommended to take. Don’t let the test scare you – a successful completion is rewarded with an FTA Certificate of Excellence which is valid for three years. If the multiple-choice does put you off, know that you can take the course without having to do the test. You’ll only receive a certificate of attendance though.
Details
•How much does it cost?
A half day course is £167+VAT for FTA members or £208.75+VAT for non-FTA members.
•Where are the courses held?
There are several upcoming events in:
- Leeds on 18 July
- Tunbridge Wells on 19 July
- Warrington on 1 August
- Learning Spa on 26 September
- Stirling on 5 October
•How to Book
If you’d like to book a place on the course, all you need to do is email training(at)fta.co.uk or call 03717 1 22 22.
