Petal, MS, based Flathaus Fine Foods have announced that they have won a Silver Award at the 2017 sofi Awards. The sofi Awards honor the best and most innovative products in specialty food.The gourmet food experts are famous for their unique cookies called 'Snaps'.
(firmenpresse) - The Specialty Food Association recently announced the 2017 sofi Awards and Flathaus Fine Foods was awarded a Silver sofi in the cookie category for its Plain All Natural Shortbread. There were 154 awards in 39 categories. These were chosen from the nearly 3000 entries submitted by 875 specialty food association members. The sofi is the specialty Food Businesses Oscar Award. Flathaus won in previous years for its Butterscotch shortbread and its Raspberry shortbread. The cookies are affectionately called snaps, as most of the Flathaus line has crushed pieces of candy infused into the dough. The cookies have a crunch, or snap from the candy. The leftover candy powder is mixed with powdered sugar and then the baked cookies are coated in the candy-sugary mixture which adds to the cookie decadence. The products are offered in cans, cartons, canisters, and gift sets.

The Vice-President Jeff Flathau of Flathaus Fine Foods said We are honored and blessed to win another sofi this year for our Plain All Natural Shortbread Cookie. We wanted a simple, great tasting cookie with a clean label, and I think we obviously accomplished all of our goals. I remember coming home one day and seeing Heather (my wife) breaking up peppermint candy in a Ziploc bag with a hammer. I thought she had lost her mind. We have come a long way since then! Its awesome to see her creativity & our hard work pay off. I have the greatest staff on earth and this is their reward as far as I am concerned.
Flathaus Fine Foods have been the proud recipients of seven other awards, including Best of Atlanta (5 times), Dallas Gourmet Gold Award, and the Gallo Family Vineyards Gold Medal Finalist.
In addition the company was named as a Mississippi Company to Watch by the Mississippi Technology Alliance and was the recipient of the Governors Award for Export Excellence in 2016. Heather Flathau was also named to the Business Journals - Top 40 Under 40 in 2011.
