Organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) versus Google AdWords (SEA) – Which Search Engine Marketing (SEM) strategy is economically more sustainable?
In the following case study I am going to give a short introduction to a research I am going to focus on the following weeks. I am going to implement SEO and SEA on multiple new websites and try to prove which search engine marketing strategy is more sustainable for modern businesses located Europe. We will publish the results on our website.
(firmenpresse) - Search Engine Marketing is fundamental for businesses any size in the time of digitization and in the time of search engines as number one source for finding information. Search Engine Marketing consists out of two different approaches.
The first approach is Search Engine Advertising and is implemented in most cases through Google AdWords. By starting a Google AdWords campaign your advertisement is shown at the top of the search results for the keywords you have set inside of your campaign. Once a person who is searching for your product or service clicks on your ad, you have to pay a certain price to google. The price varies from keyword to keyword and is defined by the search volume and the amount of competition on the first page of the search results.
This strategy is good for new websites or businesses with a certain marketing budget but it also brings a certain risk since you don’t have a guarantee that you win a new client for your service or somebody actually buys your product.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on the other hand is defined by a vast amount of different steps of optimization. SEO consists out of two main parts which can be broken down into two main topics. The first aspects of optimization take place on the website of the business itself and are called Onpage SEO. The second main aspect of Search Engine Optimization is called Offpage- SEO and takes place outside of the website itself. Both aspects include a lot of know- how and would be too extensive to look into right now. So I am going to focus on the main question mentioned above.
The main goal of Search Engine Optimization is to strengthen the website and make it the most relevant for the google algorithm. This long term goal is accomplished when the website is shown at the top of the organic search results for a certain keyword. The organic search results are the results that are shown directly beneath the ads.
In my research I am going to prove which Search Engine Marketing strategy is more cost effective and more sustainable for businesses situated in Germany.
