Future-proof operating system, user-friendly interface / Advantech-DLoG equips digital vehicle terminals of the DLT-V72 series with Android
(PresseBox) - In the case of vehicle terminals, it is usually possible to choose among many operating systems, but Android has not yet been included. Advantech-DLoG is now adjusting: in order to offer more applications and flexibility to users of logistics and warehousing, Advantech-DLoG has developed an Android version for its DLT-V72 series vehicle terminals. The major advantage is that the graphics is familiar to Android smartphone users and the handling is similar to the commercial Android. In addition, the ADLoG Android is not a Google image, which would have opened Google a backdoor into the system ? a plus in terms of security.
Android allows continuous logistics processes
So far, Android has been used in logistics only on handhelds. Thanks to Advantech-DLoG, the operating system is now also available for vehicle terminals. This extended application allows users to build their entire IT infrastructure on a single operating system. When Android can be used on existing handhelds and terminals, the installation and maintenance costs can be significantly reduced, which saves time and costs.
Future-proof operating system
With its own development, Advantech-DLoG implements the requirements of the logistics market and reacts to the strategy communicated by Microsoft. According to this, Microsoft wants to focus on Win10; other operating systems are no longer supported on the foreseeable future.
For the time being, Android will be available as an operating system for full-screen versions of the DLT-V72 series. Android supports all features of the DLT-V72 and is characterized by very good roaming.
