High Wycombe, UK, 3 May 2017: intelligentpos by iZettle has embraced Star Micronics’ range of mPOS printers including its latest addition to the renowned TSP100 Series - TSP143IIIU - the only entry-level USB receipt printer solution today to communicate and charge simultaneously and directly with an iPad or iPhone, removing the insecurity of wireless connection in difficult environments.
Star has always led where others have followed when it comes to mobile tablet POS, pioneering change within the POS printing industry by partnering with important integrators such as intelligentpos, a company offering leading UK based iPad based point of sale software and payment for hospitality and retail. Having developed the UK’s first cloud-based iPad EPOS application, intelligentpos has gone from strength to strength with the latest version of its app, according to the company, rivalling the features of the market leaders. intelligentpos’ mission was to design simple, affordable and easy to use EPOS software, to give the power of big business analytics to SME operators at just £39.
It is safe to say the mission has been achieved with the intelligentpos iPad app providing the same features and functionality of a PC based EPOS system for a fraction of the install and running costs. The powerful back office desktop application included with the standard subscription provides the flexibility to manage a business and till system remotely, anytime and from anywhere. Offering a new level of online management and two-way synchronisation, operators can create, edit and manage products, prices and categories remotely either via an iPad or their back office while automatically publishing these to any other terminals in the business.
As regards hardware, POS technology has to operate in often very diverse and challenging environments and, as a result, more traditional cabled POS terminals have been the preferred option resulting in more expensive installations. This situation is further compounded by the fact that tablet POS receipt printers need network connections and cabling for reliable printer connection and tablet charging when cable-free communication is not considered suitable.
Faced with these issues, multi-site operators have been reticent to take advantage of the flexibility and cost-savings associated with mobile tablet POS with each venue having to be tailored according to the location, type of venue and volume of transactions. Managing an estate of multiple tablets and paired Bluetooth devices means that it can be operationally difficult to maintain the right connection between the right peripherals and devices.
With software houses, retailers and restaurateurs increasingly veering towards Apple iOS POS solutions, Star has introduced the new TSP143IIIU. As well as working with a traditional POS terminal, the TSP143IIIU is the only USB printer that can connect directly to an iPad or iPhone using the Apple supplied lightning cable for reliable USB communication as opposed to previous iOS wireless only technologies. As a result, the usual Bluetooth or WiFi / wired LAN set-up issues around pairing, network infrastructure, connectivity etc are eliminated. No other stand-alone POS printer can achieve this today.
Simplicity itself, the iPad / iPhone can talk directly to the printer just as a USB printer talks to a traditional terminal, providing multisite operators with the reliability required in high volume transactions or environments where wireless communication is difficult. This unique printer will now allow blanket decisions to be made across estates by successfully combining the flexibility of tablet POS with the reliability of cabled POS terminals.
