(businesspress24) - There’s no better way to work up an appetite than out on the slopes, and although you can return to your self-catered ski chalet for something you whip up yourself, Val d''Isère has some truly delectable restaurants for foodies – both on the mountain and in the resort. Here are a few of the best that Val has to offer.

Mountain Restaurants

La Peau du Vache is considered by those in the know to be the rising star of mountain cuisine. Striking the perfect balance between welcoming and upmarket, it’s considered to have the best food and service on the slopes. Located about halfway down La Face, it’s reachable by the Bellevarde Express chair lift. Try one of their burgers for connoisseurs or opt for a regional specialty for your lunch, enjoying the candelabra, extensive wine list, and the excellent atmosphere.

Le Signal (Chez Brigitte) may be difficult to find (look out for the giant red headphones near the top of the Le Fornet cable car!), but it’s definitely worth the trouble. Lunch on the terrace in the sun with great food, friendly service and lovely views or dine in the restaurant with the delicious daily specials, but either way make sure you book or you’ll be disappointed. Brigitte the chef hovers over every plate that exits the kitchen, and the food is remarkable. People return here time and again.

La Frutière is beautifully decorated with exposed pipework and whitewashed walls; it offers delicious meat and pasta dishes, with spag bol served in a glass jar being the most popular plate on the menu. The giant cellar boasts a long communal table where guests can sample more unusual wines and cheeses from all over France, a real must for food fanatics! If you choose to sit outside, the restaurant offers cosy onesies for those brave enough to face the chill. Located next to La Folie Douce at the top of La Daile, it’s impossible to miss and a must-visit for foodies in Val d''Isère.

In the Resort

La Grande Ours is considered by many to be the best place to dine in the resort. Excellent daily specials compliment the broad and delicious menu, and you can enjoy lunch with panoramic views over the resort from the terrace. Dinner has a more formal feel, and the staff are always super attentive and charming. Try their delicious onion soup and you’ll probably end up here more than once on your ski holiday.

L’Atelier d’Edmond has two Michelin stars and is a true gastro dining experience, not to be missed – make sure to book well in advance. Try one of the tasting menus for a heavenly foodie journey in an incredibly charming bistro which offers an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of Val d’Isère. It’s number one on Trip Advisor with good reason, and if you are in a self-catering ski chalet every other night then this is the one place you simply must visit while in Val d’Isère.
