(PresseBox) - TÜV Rheinland showcasing its portfolio for the topics of ?cyber security?, ?functional safety? and ?explosion protection? at the SPS IPC Drives trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany. The megatrend ?Industry 4.0? presents challenges for companies in everything relating to cyber security: Both in terms of protecting the systems and of the safety and reliability of products. ?From the component to the operator ? hypothetically, systems can be attacked from within and without,? explains Thomas Steffens, business field manager at TÜV Rheinland. ?In some cases, not only operators but also manufacturers are not aware of this fact,? says the expert. He supports his customers in assessing and analysing dangers posed by digitization.
TÜV Rheinland is one of the established certification service providers in the area of automation and functional safety and is accredited in accordance with the comprehensive standard DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013. Based on the draft standard of IEC 62443-4-1 and IEC 62443-4-2 as well as EDSA/ISASecure, the experts also provide security assessments in addition to certifications. Soon, TÜV Rheinland will also be listed as one of the accredited laboratories on the official US ISASecure website.
It is possible, for example, to assess whether products comply with the requirements of relevant standards. When it comes to international market approvals in particular, electric, electronical and programmable components and products must comply with country-specific as well as international standards. As an independent and globally recognized testing service provider, TÜV Rheinland tests according to safety standards stipulated in each case. But how does access to a market work? This question will be addressed by experts as part of a panel discussion in which TÜV Rheinland experts will also participate. ?Together we will discuss where the difficulties of market access lie in the various regions of the world, which are often due to different and complex standards,? says Thomas Steffens. The experts will address the topics of history and legal background. And deal with standards and laws as well as with government market surveillance, such as in Japan. The panel discussion will take place on November 22 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the stand (610) of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers'' Association (ZVEI) in hall 2.
