Norfolk Ophthalmologists Offer New Eye Care Solutions for Enhanced Results
The team at Virginia Eye Consultants now offers the KAMRA and Raindrop corneal inlays, the Symfony IOL, and Corneal Cross-Linking as part of its comprehensive procedural offering
(firmenpresse) - NORFOLK, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/15/16 -- Ophthalmology is constantly evolving as more advanced solutions are developed to treat various eye conditions and diseases. The eye doctors at Virginia Eye Consultants (VEC) are committed to staying at the forefront of these changes and are able to do so through their involvement in clinical research for innovative treatments. This also allows the practice to offer their patients the most advanced solutions available.
Most recently, the team has added four new procedures to its comprehensive list of eye care solutions:
Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay
KAMRA™ Corneal Inlay
Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL)
TECNIS® Symfony IOL
The ophthalmologists highlight the and the ™ corneal inlay, saying they are exciting new treatment options for people living with presbyopia. The doctors go on to describe the Raindrop® inlay as a clear lens that reshapes the cornea to restore near vision. The KAMRA™ inlay is also designed to restore near vision but in a different way. They explain the KAMRA™ works by only allowing focused light through a hole in the center of a small lens implanted in the cornea.
Also new to VEC is the (CXL) procedure and the TECNIS® . The doctors note that CXL is a revolutionary advancement that can prevent keratoconus from progressing. During the non-invasive treatment, riboflavin drops are placed in the eye(s), which are then activated by a small amount of UVA light. This helps strengthen the cornea by increasing the crosslinking of its collagen, ultimately preventing the cornea from becoming more misshapen.
Finally, the VEC doctors are pleased to announce the new Symfony IOL as part of their collection of intraocular lenses for cataract surgery. The Symfony IOL is unique in that it can also correct astigmatism and treat presbyopia, improving distance vision and providing a broader range of close-up vision.
VEC is proud to offer the advanced new treatment options for patients living with conditions like presbyopia and keratoconus. They believe the innovative solutions will provide enhanced vision results for the right candidates.
