ID: 1470025

(firmenpresse) - EL DORADO HILLS, CA and EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND -- (Marketwired) -- 11/15/16 -- EEMBC today announced that has joined the EEMBC Heterogeneous Compute working group, focused on developing benchmarks targeting compute-intensive applications such as vision processing for ADAS and autonomous vehicles, machine learning and other image analysis solutions. Codeplay is a company that is internationally recognized for expertise in heterogeneous systems, and has many years of experience in the development of compilers, runtimes, debuggers, test systems, and other specialized tools.

EEMBC was formed in 1997 to develop meaningful for the hardware and software used in embedded systems. EEMBC benchmarks help ensure predictable performance of embedded processors and systems in a range of applications and disciplines. EEMBC benchmarks are expanding into several important areas focused on the Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous driving (e.g. ADAS), and data centers. The Heterogeneous Compute working group will develop this benchmark to help system designers from the automotive, industrial, and mobile sectors select the optimal processing solution for their applications, and will provide silicon and intellectual property vendors with an equitable method in which to compare and compete with their product offerings.

"We have informally collaborated with EEMBC for many years on various benchmark projects, but when EEMBC began this heterogeneous compute benchmark project, we were eager to take an active and official role in helping with the definition and development," said Andrew Richards, CEO of Codeplay. "Ultimately, we want to use these benchmarks to assist our customer in identifying the potential compute performance of a heterogeneous architecture and utilizing the available compute resources, such as the CPU, GPU, and dedicated accelerator processors."

"Codeplay''s extensive experience in working with parallel processing architectures will be a great asset to our working group," said Markus Levy, EEMBC President. "Their great knowledge contributes to a wealth of talent from other EEMBC members including ARM, Imagination Technologies, Intel, Marvell, NXP, STMicroelectronics, Synopsys, and Texas Instruments, as well as advisors from the automotive industry."

EEMBC, the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium, was formed in 1997 as a non-profit organization that develops industry-standard benchmarks to test processors, microcontrollers, and the corresponding embedded systems. EEMBC benchmarks help ensure predictable performance of embedded processors and systems in a range of applications and disciplines. Its benchmarks are currently in use within thousands of companies and universities worldwide.

Codeplay is internationally recognized for delivering ComputeSuite™ delivering standards-compliant products into heterogeneous systems for most of the largest semiconductor companies in the world. Codeplay works closely with The Khronos™ Group to define new open standards such as OpenCL™, SPIR™, SYCL™, and Vulkan™, and leading the creation of new System Runtime and Tools standards through the HSA Foundation. Codeplay combines the high-level ComputeCpp™ easy-to-use C++ standard development tools, with the low-level ComputeAorta™ heterogeneous runtime technology to ensure that open standards-based parallel software can run on the widest possible range of platforms and devices.
