(firmenpresse) - SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/02/16 -- A rummage sale app for K-12 schools developed by a 13-year-old entrepreneur, an eco-friendly alternative for death care, a solar-powered safe water solution for disaster areas, and an app for direct donations to the homeless -- these were some of the outstanding ideas that were awarded prizes at the SVP Fast Pitch 2016 Final Showdown.

It was an evening of inspiration and innovation as philanthropists, impact investors, and community leaders came together at McCaw Hall to see and hear present their social impact solutions and compete for over $200,000 in grants and prizes. You could feel the buzz of excitement as you entered McCaw Hall. The smiles, greetings and the hum of more than 800 voices filled the lobby. At the Innovator Showcase, the semifinalists and finalists of Fast Pitch 2016 presented their enterprises to community leaders and discussed ways they could collaborate with others to make the region stronger.

And what is equally inspiring is the generosity and the compassion of the communities in the Puget Sound region," says Lisa Nitze, President & CEO of SVP Seattle.

The audience was on the edge of their seats, inspired by the 14 finalists who presented their social enterprises in a high pressure, five-minute pitch before a . The innovators, ranging from high school students to young executives shared their stories of systems change and developing solutions to critical problems facing the region and the world. The audience was invited to participate in the voting, selecting first and second winners.

connects social innovators with Seattle''s philanthropic community, business leaders and impact investors interested in supporting their solutions and helping them to scale. The Innovators apply to compete in five categories -- High School; University; Startup Nonprofit; Established Nonprofit; and For-Profit Social Enterprise. Selected applicants go through four months of intensive mentoring and training, while competing in elimination rounds, to prepare for the Final Showdown.
