Kögel presents Port 40 Simplex container chassis at IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016
Flexible container chassis with rear extension / Also available with optimised rear section for ramp access
(PresseBox) - At IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016, Kögel is showing off a container chassis with pneumatic rear extension, the Port 40 Simplex. This container chassis, weighing in at just 5,200 kilograms in its basic form, with a technical gross tare weight of 41,000 kilograms and a fifth-wheel load of 14,000 kilograms, is ideal for transporting 20, 30 and 40 foot ISO containers, as well as 40 foot Highcube containers.
In addition, the Port 40 Simplex scores with its ease of use thanks to pneumatic pressure at the press of a button. For a longer lifespan, the rear extension on the Port 40 Simplex features a low-maintenance guide on special plastic sliders and two extension rollers.
Highly versatile
The IAA exhibit is suitable for transporting a 20 foot ISO container flush-fitted to the rear with a retracted frame. If the rear extension is used, then a 40 foot Highcube container or two 20 foot ISO containers can be accommodated. The exhibited model also demonstrates the option of fitting a 30 and 40 foot ISO container flush at the rear and a 20 foot container in the centre.
Also available with optimised rear section for ramp access
To simplify the task of loading and unloading the containers on a ramp, the Port 40 Simplex container chassis can be optionally equipped with a rear section shortened by 70 millimetres. This means the vehicle can get closer to the ramp, and the gap between container and ramp that needs to be bridged with a drive-over panel is reduced accordingly. The transport of 40 foot ISO containers is not possible with this option.
Cathodic dip-paint coating: lasting protection from corrosion
As with all Kögel vehicles, the entire vehicle frame of the Kögel Port 40 Simplex is given long-lasting protection from corrosion by Nano Ceramic Technology and cathodic dip-paint coating, supplemented with UV painting.
