New Patented Technology Records a Live 3D Scan of Any Face or Photo and Instantly Converts It Into a Look That Can Be Tried on User's Live Video

Live Scan enables users to try on any look they see in real-life, in a magazine, or even on TV.
The patented technology behind ModiFace''s Live Scan capability has been under development for nearly a decade. In order to train the style and color recognition system behind Live Scan, ModiFace analyzed over 100,000 user photos from which makeup was extracted. The results of this analysis, which were published at an academic conference in 2015, provided unique insights that were instrumental in the creation of the Live Scan technology.
"Our goal with Live Scan was to create the ultimate search engine for makeup exploration, and to do so in a way that was a seamless experience for users. Live Scan constantly scans live video and as soon as there is a face, it is immediately translated into a look that can be tried on. Unlike other shade detection technologies, Live Scan finds the actual texture and style of the makeup in a photo and analyzes it for rendering on the user''s own face. The detected makeup styles are also auto rendered on a live face chart frame-by-frame, providing an instant feedback on the detection results to the user. Live Scan works on any photo, with any style of makeup products including multi-colored eye shadows and liners, textured lipstick, and complex colorings. Live Scan is based on a patented visualization technology that can separate the skin layer in a photo from the makeup layer, thereby finding anything makeup product or effect that has been applied on the skin.
