Government of Canada to Hold Public Consultations on Future of a Prominent Ottawa Heritage Building

Have your say on the future public use of the 100 Wellington Building, facing Parliament Hill

The Government of Canada wants your feedback on the best future public use of an important heritage building, located directly across from Parliament Hill in the heart of your nation''s capital.

The Honorable Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement encourages all Canadians from coast to coast to coast to join the conversation and give their opinion on how best to transform 100 Wellington (the former U.S. Embassy) into a key Canadian institution.

An in-person public information session will be webcast live across Canada on August 18 to kick off the public consultations. An online survey will be available from August 18 to September 9, 2016.

To get the most out of the public consultations, Canadians will have an opportunity to vote and provide input on several potential future uses. The list of potential uses will be presented on August 18 at the launch of the public consultations. Consultations won''t be limited to voting on the list of potential uses-Canadians will also be able to provide their feedback and their own ideas on the best way to use this important building.

The results of the public consultations will be made public and will be used in making decisions on how to re-develop this significant heritage building. The results will also inform the broader strategy of restoring and modernizing the heritage buildings in the Parliamentary Precinct.
