Ethernet switches for a reliable networking setup
(PresseBox) - In the field of Networking Solutions VIPA has supplemented its product program with intelligent Ethernet switches. The modules, equipped with 5 or 8 ports, have compact and space saving dimensions and are available immediately as unmanaged or managed Ethernet switches.
Unmanaged basic Ethernet switches
Under the order number 910-1EN50 (5-port version) and 910-1EN80 (8-port version) VIPA is supplying two low-cost Ethernet switches in industrial quality that are suitable for many applications. Both switches support the standards IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 802.3u/x as well as automatic MDI/MDI-X recognition.
Managed Ethernet switches
Here VIPA also offers a 5-port version (911-2PN50) and a 8-port version (911-2PN80). With their special features both are suitable for the deployment in PROFINET networks and allow the retrieval of PROFINET diagnosis and status information. For users of the VIPA engineering tool SPEED7 Studio, deployment of the Managed Ethernet switches becomes easier with the integration of both modules into the configured PROFINET network. So a very time saving configuration is possible. Of course, a system open integration by means of GSDML file is also possible.
The short boot times and the recovery technology Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain bring a further performance improvement in PROFINET networks. The main attraction is that the usage of Managed Ethernet Switches is not only limited to PROFINET networks because they also support Ethernet/IP and Modbus/TCP protocols for the monitoring of the devices or the use of intelligent network management functions.
Comprehensive certifications for all VIPA Ethernet switches
The very stable mechanical setup with an IP30 aluminum case allows deployment in rough industrial environments. These, for example, include shipping industry (DNV/GL) or danger areas (Class 1/Div.2/ATEX) in accordance with the standards FCC, TUV, UL and CE.
Target applications:
The low-cost and space saving VIPA Ethernet switches are especially created for fast and uncomplicated network configurations. They can be deployed to fit exactly to the network topology used. With their robust cases they are especially suitable for a rough industrial environment. For the user the great benefit with the switches is that the components for the control technology and matching network engineering modules come from a single source.
