New MEASNET procedure published: UL-DEWI participated in the development
(PresseBox) - Being a part of Measuring Network of Wind Energy Institutes (MEASNET), UL International GmbH (UL-DEWI) has contributed to the current release of the second version of the MEASNET procedure ?Evaluation of Site-Specific Wind Conditions?. UL-DEWI is one out of ten institutions which form the MEASNET Site Assessment Group that has initiated the realization of the procedure document. ?We are proud that we could as UL-DEWI participate in the further development of the procedure?, says Kai Moennich, Subject Matter Expert Micrositing for UL-DEWI.
After having been released in 2009, the first procedure document quickly developed into an internationally well-recognized definition for a complete procedure to assess site conditions. The new version of the procedure addresses topics such as energy yield assessment and utilization of remote sensing measurement techniques. Currently the assessment group is preparing a round robin test according to the latest guideline.
UL-DEWI was among those measurement institutions that founded MEASNET in 1997 in order to harmonize wind energy related measurement procedures on the one hand, and securing a high quality of standards on the other hand. The procedure document is available on the MEASNET website.

UL-DEWI has become a one-stop service provider to turbine and component manufacturers, project developers, utilities and the financial community within the industry. It was founded as a research institute over 25 years ago and has been part of UL (Underwriters Laboratories) since 2012. As the industry is continuously evolving, research remains an essential part of UL-DEWI. UL-DEWI currently operates two wind test sites in Wilhelmshaven, Germany and at the West Texas AM University, USA.
