(firmenpresse) - Not for profit, after hours creative art program for children, the Chattanooga based Children''s Art Place, has announced its 2016 summer camp programs commencing in June with registration available now.
More details can be found on the website: http://childrensartplace.com.
The children''s summer art camp repeats the most popular programs from previous years and also sees some new program additions. The week long programs aim to get kids exploring their creativity through a wide variety of art media. Registrations can be made via the form on the Children''s Art Place website, via email or phoning founder Jennifer Strickler directly.
The programs include: "Mom Would NEVER Let Me Do This At Home€Â, a tactile interaction allowing children get to really messy whilst having fun; "Mixed Media Madness", including the use of some non traditional media; €œMinecraft, Animal Jam And Superheroes€Â, encourages children to design and draw their own superhero; €œFashion Design And Girly Fun€Â, attendees learn about clothing design and decoration, including up-cycling, illustration and embellishment.
Founder Jennifer Strickler explains that the organization exists to fill a needs gap where art program budgets are all too often cut, and aims to provide art experience to as many students as possible. The standard after school programs are typically aimed at K5 students during the school year but the summer camps can be enjoyed by students up to eighth grade.
The Children''s Art Place inspires creativity, critical thinking and problem solving alongside developing art skills and techniques. Jennifer says that studies show the benefits of art education as: encouraging higher order thinking skills, promotes creativity, enhances fine motor development and sharpens observation skills.
In addition, art classes foster a child''s ability to learn as well as gaining important skills, with the Children''s Art Place summer camp being no exception. Children learn: development of the artistic craft; persistence (how to persevere through frustration); expression (moving beyond technical skill); making clear connections (between schoolwork and the world outside the classroom); observing, envisioning, innovating through exploration and reflective self-evaluation.
Jennifer is qualified in a Bachelors Degree of Fine Arts degree with an Art History minor from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and has practiced design for 25 years. Whilst she enjoys design immensely, she finds that bringing the world of art to children, including the summer camp program, is far more rewarding.
