GoFundMe: Over $300,000 Raised to Help Victims of Fire in Fort McMurray
(firmenpresse) - REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/09/16 -- On May 1st, 2016, a fire began in Alberta, destroying homes and businesses, ravaging entire communities, and displacing roughly 88,000 people. Over the last few days, the GoFundMe community has donated over $300,000 to help thousands of individuals and families impacted by this fire.
The GoFundMe community has a history of coming together when natural disasters strike. Just last month, the GoFundMe community raised over $1.4 million for victims of the Ecuador earthquake. Campaign organizers raised $7 million on GoFundMe in the aftermath of the Nepal earthquakes, $2.5 million for the 2015 California wildfires, and over $1.1 million for the storms in the Carolinas this past year.
