This book was written with the aim of helping people face their fears. Little Miss Muffet Faces Her Fear focuses on dealing with fear and bullies.This book is particularly exciting because it takes the fear out of fear. Little Miss Muffet is transformed as she stands up for herself and faces her fear of Old Mister Spider. In the process Old Mister Spider too, is transformed and they become friends.
Petryshyn states " The messages of the original Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes leave us broken and dis-empowered. We become victims of our lives and of our circumstances, stuck with no way out. These messages are buried deep within the collective unconscious and unbeknownst to us our lives are run by them. €œLittle Miss Muffet decided to tough it while eating her curds and whey. So, the next time that spider sat down beside her she smiled and said, "You go away!".
Kathleen has hopes that this book makes transformation available to everyone, young and old. This positive outlook from the author is certainly a testament to her optimism considering some of the mishaps during its creation. At one point some illustrations had to be completely reworked which delayed publication about 6 months..
In a recent interview, the author made a point of thanking all her friends and family for their part in the creation of the Wake Up Mother Goose Series.
