Research About iLs Program to Be Presented at the Prestigious AOTA Conference This Week

(firmenpresse) - DENVER, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/07/16 -- a provider of multi-sensory programs and products for improving brain function and emotional regulation, today announced that Sarah Schoen, PhD, will present the findings of a recent pilot study this week at the . Schoen will discuss the study titled . Schoen co-authored of the study with Lucy J. Miller, PhD and Jillian Sullivan, PhD. The study found that participants showed physiological and behavioral improvement after a 40-hour iLs Program.

The study of the iLs Program was implemented mostly in an at-home environment. It involved having seven participants complete the iLs Program four times per week at home, and once a week in clinic. ABAS (Adaptive Behavior Assessment System) test results showed improvement in all categories, with significant improvement in communication and self-care. The BASC (Behavior Assessment System for Children) test results showed significant changes in seven of the sub-tests, including hyperactivity, aggression, anxiety, depression, atypicality, adaptability and activities of daily living.

"This study suggests that the iLs Program may be an effective intervention for children with SPD or Autism," said Schoen, adminstrator of the study. "The improvements shown in our study point to how the iLs Program may be an effective behavioral enhancement program for these populations."

The iLs Program combines listening to acoustically processed music through specialized headphones while simultaneously doing balance, movement and visual activities.

"We were pleased with the results of this pilot study as the parents'' comments were in step with feedback and results we are hearing about the iLs Program from all over the world. Over and over again, we hear how the Program helps users with behavioral issues, and it is particularly gratifying to see the same results occurring with children with ASD," said Ron Minson, MD, Clinical Director at iLs. "This study provides further confirmation of the Program''s clinical effectiveness."

Schoen''s AOTA presentation is scheduled for Friday, April 8 from 8:00-9:30 am in McCormick Place, Room W180.

iLs provides a multisensory program for improving brain function and emotional regulation while training the brain to process sensory information. iLs equipment utilizes sound therapy based on advanced psychoacoustics and takes it to a new level of efficacy by combining it with visual and balance activities that are performed while listening. iLs has a global effect on the brain and central nervous system and is successfully applied to a wide variety of conditions, including those related to emotional and behavioral regulation, sensory processing, communication and social skills including Autism, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy. iLs Programs may be applied for learning skills (building skills which enable success in school), performance optimization, psychological/emotional applications and rehabilitation (recovering energy and skills related to language, movement and cognitive function after a stroke or head injury).
