In an effort to reduce face and head injuries, WeeTect work closely with safety authorities across the U.S.A. The HECC is a recognized by USA Hockey (USAH) as a non-profit organization. It has by-laws that mandate all hockey head gears must be tested and certified to meet the required safety criteria.
WeeTect hockey visor (WHV) safety requirements
ASTM safety standards; all by-laws and safety requirement by the HECC are consistent with the ASTM safety standards. Visors manufactured by WeeTect are certified to meet the ASTM standards.
Visors that WeeTect exported to North America meet the ASTM F513 safety specifications and standards. They have been assessed for:
- Field of vision
- Area of coverage
- Compatibility
- Impact resistance
- Stick blade penetration
“We have adopted a thorough and consistent quality testing criteria that verify impact resistance of hockey visors on three different regions - center of the eye, underneath the center of the eye and the center of the mouth,” said Taylos Lei. “This is an advanced testing criteria as per the HECC regulations.”
These tests are conducted in different environmental conditions. It aims to ensure that the face visor maintains its performance criteria and integrity in all sporting environments within the American continent.
CAN/CSA Z262.2; WeeTect hockey visor (WHV) is approved to meet the CAN/CSA standards. It is an important requirement for hockey equipment to pass the HECC certification criteria. The hockey visors are evaluated for compatibility, impact resistance and area of coverage. This ensures both proper face coverage and vision.
According to the new guidelines published on WeeTect’s official website, the test criteria will focus on a number of crucial areas such as:
- Impact tests shall be conducted on different sections of hockey visors.
- 22 mph is the recommended impact speed that shall be conducted on different sections of the hockey visor.
- Toughness test will be conducted at a speed of 63 mph.
- All tests shall be conducted in different environmental conditions.
Even though these are the main testing standards recommended by HECC for hockey visors, WeeTect still manufactures its products as per the ASTM material selection criteria. This is alongside other hockey visor certification standards and criteria such as the CE standards. Over the years, the company strives to go beyond the minimum quality standards.
