in-cosmetics, stand C 40: Omya presents a new generation of natural ingredients offering multifunctional benefits
(firmenpresse) - At this year’s in-cosmetics, Omya Consumer Goods will showcase new application forms for its scientifically-backed Natural and Functionalized Calcium Carbonates. These include Omyadent®, a highly efficient innovative mineral with remineralizing and desensitizing properties for oral care products, as well as Omyacare® and Omyascrub®. Pure white natural minerals with strong opacity and mastered particle sizes, Omyacare® and Omyascrub® can be used in various skincare and color cosmetic formulations.
Omyadent® has excellent remineralizing properties due to its high reactivity and chemical affinity with human tooth enamel. It is also able to desensitize sensitive teeth, while gently cleaning and whitening them. Thanks to its Functionalized Calcium Carbonate (FCC) particles, which consist of a calcium carbonate core surrounded by a shell of hydroxyapatite (HAP), Omyadent® can seal tubules that connect the exposed dentine layer with the pulp, thus reducing sensitivity. Its porous structure means, however, that the tubules are not completely closed and are able to maintain their natural properties. At the same time, HAP makes the teeth more resistant to acid attacks. With its profound understanding of toothpaste formulation development, Omya’s proprietary FCC technology enables a broad spectrum of surface properties, compositions and particle shapes. Omyadent® can also act as an effective carrier and release agent for further ingredients, such as other minerals, flavors, and antimicrobials.
In addition, Omya will present the latest applications for Natural Calcium Carbonates (NCCs). Omyacare® can fulfil multiple roles, including acting as a feel modifier in creams and lotions, a functional extender, and a cleaning and opacifying agent. It is therefore suitable for use in a broad range of personal care products, such as color cosmetic, skin and hair care applications. The second of Omya’s NCCs, Omyascrub®, gently exfoliates and rejuvenates the skin. It has high acid tolerance and is an ideal replacement for PE-beads or plant-based abrasives. Omya identified a natural purified source: Its NCCs are non-irradiated and have low levels of microbiology. They comply with the most stringent international safety standards and can be modified in different particle sizes with exacting consistency to meet the demands of a variety of textures. Their brightness and extraordinary opacity means that they are suitable for white or colored cosmetic products and can be used in high concentrations.
Last but not least, Omya will showcase in addition, its extensive range of distributed materials such as natural colors, silicates and further specialties for personal care use.
