New SGI HPC Installation to Assist Automotive Manufacturer With World Class Product Development

ŠKODA AUTO is one of the world''s oldest car manufacturers and draws on 110 years of production expertise. The new installation will integrate with ŠKODA AUTO''s existing SGI supercomputer to reach over 30,000 Intel® Xeon® E5 family processor cores.
Car manufacturers are under increasing pressure to reduce costs and increase quality throughout the entire design cycle. The use of virtual prototyping software and HPC systems allows them to validate a design before committing to making expensive physical prototypes. The newest SGI installation will continue to provide Å KODA AUTO with a unified compute, storage and services solution that tackles their most demanding CAE workloads, maximizes engineering productivity and speeds up the time to market.
