BSN-JOBST $100,000 Research Grant Awarded at American Venous Forum Annual Meeting

Shaydakov, M.D., Ph.D., research fellow at the Jobst Vascular Institute of ProMedica, and the Jobst Research Laboratory at the University of Michigan, is the 2016 recipient of the in Venous and Lymphatic Diseases. The $100,000 research grant was awarded to Dr. Shaydakov at the (AVF) 28th Annual Meeting in Orlando, Fla.

For the past 20 years, BSN medical has contributed to vein disease research through the BSN-JOBST Research Grant, which was increased from $50,000 to $100,000 in 2015, bringing the company''s total contribution to over $1 Million.

Dr. Shaydakov will investigate functional heterogeneity of human venous valve endothelium and its role in deep vein thrombosis (DVT) disease under the mentorship of Jose A. Diaz, M.D., research assistant professor, vascular surgery, at the University of Michigan.

In 1995, BSN medical, in association with the AVF, initiated the BSN-JOBST Research Grant to further Conrad Jobst''s legacy of innovation. The Fellowship, which has helped to jump-start the careers of young investigators, is designed to provide a foundation of research to build on future work and grants for mentored and independent research. Recipients are asked to submit a one-year update and present a progress report to the AVF membership at its Annual Meeting.

The selection for the recipient of the BSN-JOBST Research Grant is performed through a competitive peer review process. The competition is open to residents, fellows in a vascular training program, as well as physicians who have completed their training within the past five years.
