A new radio ad has hit the airwaves asking consumers not to buy Covered Bridge Potato Chips until a strike by UFCW Canada Local 1288P members ends with a fair first contract. The ads are being broadcast on a number of stations across the region, and across the country on streaming radio.

UFCW Canada Local 1288P members at Covered Bridge were forced out on strike on January 5, because over the past two years the company has said "NO" to paying a fair living wage and recognizing basic workplace rights.

The radio ads are the latest addition to the growing impact of the at Covered Bridge. Since the strike began, a number of retailers across the region have stopped stocking Covered Bridge Potato Chips. And thousands of consumers have stopped buying Covered Bridge Potato Chips, and sent the company to get back to bargaining a fair contract.

As the strike moves into it seventh week, the picket line holds solid, as does at major retailers throughout the Maritimes asking consumers not to buy Covered Bridge Potato Chips until the strike is over. The radio ads are reaching even further.

"The members are more resolved than ever to get a fair contract and the radio ads have really added to the solidarity," says UFCW Canada national representative Carl Flanagan. "It is time for the owners at Covered Bridge to tune in, put their chips on the table, and get back to bargaining a contract that pays a fair wage and respects basic labour rights."
