European Parliament Event Announcing Cluster Headache Day on February 24
(firmenpresse) - BRUSSELS, BELGIUM -- (Marketwired) -- 02/22/16 -- Did you know, cluster headache affects up to 4 in 1,000 people, similar to the incidence of Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson''s disease. Despite being relatively unkown, it is one of the worst pains known to man and unlike migraine it mainly affects men.
On average, it takes six years to obtain the correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment, resulting in untold misery and possible devastation for those affected.
The European Headache Federation (EHF) and the European Headache Alliance (EHA) are working together to educate and to raise awareness of the impact and burden of this disorder through the ''What''s the Under the Hat?'' public awareness campaign.
EHF and EHA are pleased to announce an event at the European Parliament, Brussels on 24th February to highlight the forthcoming Cluster Headache Day on 21st March. The word ''cluster'' refers to a period of time lasting weeks or months, with an increased number of headache attacks associated with seasonal changes and light hours in the day, peaking at the equinox.
The event will be hosted by Irish MEP, Nessa Childers and will include presentations from the scientific and expert patient perspective.
