Canon Updates Top Enthusiast-Level APS-sensor DSLR and Refreshes Compact Camera Lineup, Announces New All-in-One Zoom Lens; Adorama Expert Mason Resnick Takes a First Look

The successor to Canon''s popular 70D, the EOS 80D boasts sensor resolution bumped up to 24MP and an ISO range of 100-16,000 (topping out at 12,800 in video mode). The camera can record up to 60p full HD videos in MP4 format.

In a , expert Mason Resnick says, "Canon claims the dual-pixel autofocus system, which made its first appearance in the 70D, has been tweaked and improved. The number of autofocus points has been dramatically increased, from 19 to 45, all of which are cross-type sensors. A 7560-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor enables color tracking to accurately detect skin color."
The 80D''s eye-level, mirror-reflex viewfinder offers 100% coverage, while its 3-inch LCD monitor flips out for high and low-angle live view shooting. As with its predecessor, the 80D can capture up to 7fps burst rate. A number of Creative Filters are available, along with HDR Movie and time-lapse movie recording.
The Canon EOS 80D offers both Wi-Fi and NFC wireless connectivity, and it is fully compatible with the Canon Connect Station CS100 as well as with Android mobile devices.

The SX720 is Canon''s travel-friendly compact camera with a long-range zoom of 40x - up from its predecessor''s 30x zoom. The camera offers the same 20.3MP CMOS sensor as the SX710, paired with a Digic 6 image processor, and features a 3-inch LCD monitor with 922k dot resolution. It offers Zoom Framing Assist, which automatically zooms to track and maintain focus on a moving subject, zooming in quickly to get the shot. The SX720 also offers Story Highlights, which automatically compiles images and videos from a specified day into a mini highlight reel, complete with music and effects.
The camera has built-in Wi-Fi and NFC, and is compatible with iOS and Android mobile devices. The will be available from Adorama for $379.99.
The latest innovation from Canon''s enthusiast-oriented G lineup, the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II features a next-generation Digic 7 image processor, which is said to deliver improved image quality in low light. Also new to this compact digital camera is a boost in the burst rate, from 6.5 to 8fps. The camera can shoot time-lapse movies in user-controlled intervals to create short clips, while the Panning feature locks onto the main subject and adjusts the shutter speed for increased background blur.
