You know it''s cold when Canadians put on sweaters. The recent frigid temperatures across the province mean that furnaces have been working overtime. Enbridge Gas Distribution wants to remind you that furnace filters should be changed or cleaned every three months to ensure your furnace is running safely and efficiently.
Sound complicated? A recent survey commissioned by the utility shows that some people think so.
Heating systems need regular maintenance to work safely. Changing the furnace filter will also save you money - dirty filters can restrict airflow, forcing the furnace to work harder and increase your natural gas use.
Changing or cleaning the filter is easy. Here are some easy to follow instructions:

For this survey, a sample of 1,000 Ontarians from Ipsos'' online panel was interviewed online. Weighting was then employed to balance demographics to ensure that the sample''s composition reflects that of the adult population according to Census data and to provide results intended to approximate the sample universe. The precision of Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll is accurate to within +/ - 3.5 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, had all Canadian adults been polled. The credibility interval will be wider among subsets of the population. All sample surveys and polls may be subject to other sources of error, including, but not limited to coverage error, and measurement error.
