Sacramento Plastic Surgeon Clarifies Common Breast Augmentation Misconceptions
Dr. Charles Perry of Chrysalis Cosmetic Discusses Whether Breast Augmentation Can Limit Breastfeeding Ability and Touches Upon Other Prevailing Beliefs Regarding This Procedure
(firmenpresse) - SACRAMENTO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/17/16 -- For women considering motherhood, the may be a concern. Dr. Charles Perry, a , hopes to ease patient fears by explaining that most women who are capable of nursing prior to breast enlargement surgery should be able to do so after the procedure as well. To clear the air of this and other misconceptions, he clarifies a few frequently asked questions about this procedure.
Not every woman has a natural ability to nurse, Dr. Perry explains; however, this possibility may not be taken into consideration prior to undergoing breast augmentation. As a result, he says a patient may blame the surgery or for the inability to breastfeed when a pre-existing anatomical issue may be the cause. Additionally, Dr. Perry says certain incision locations could disrupt milk flow by affecting the mammary ducts. He encourages individuals to discuss their desire to breastfeed with their plastic surgeon so that he or she may develop a treatment plan that reduces the risk as much as possible.
According to Dr. Perry, another common question he receives involves the in order to achieve and maintain the desired outcome. He says the answer will depend on several factors, including the breast implant type and placement. Generally speaking, Dr. Perry says shelf bras offer excellent support for smooth breast implants and soft-cup sports bras typically will be better suited for textured implants. Underwire and push-up bras, he cautions, should be worn rarely and only for short periods, as they may modify the shape or position of the breasts over time.
Dr. Perry says that it is natural for a patient considering breast augmentation to have a number of questions. The right plastic surgeon, he explains, will take the time to answer these questions honestly and help the individual better understand what her options are. He suggests women considering breast surgery should seek out a board certified plastic surgeon who is attentive, responsive, and experienced.
