Poverty Inc. Film Screening (First Public Screening in Calgary) Followed by Panel Discussion on January 23, 2016

ID: 1409011

(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/14/16 -- From international adoptions to TOMs Shoes, from solar panels to U.S. agricultural subsidies; On Saturday January 23rd 2016 from 6 to 8:30pm, Engineers Without Borders and the Fig Tree Foundation are partnering up to bring the first public screening of the critically acclaimed film, POVERTY, INC. in Calgary at the Plaza Theatre. This film challenges each of us to ask ourselves the tough question:

"Could the actions I take to alleviate poverty actually be a significant component of the problem?"

Featuring a thought-provoking panel discussion with an all-star panel following the film, including experts such as Engineers Without Borders'' CEO Boris Martin and Director of Bridges Canada, Lindsay Mitchell.

Come and enjoy a thought provoking evening, assessing the underlying forces of the international development and aid systems, confronting your assumptions about poverty and inequality in unexpected ways.

Suggested $10 donation at the door.

"A powerful and uncompromising film that strikes at the core of the traditional understanding of development and international assistance." - Andres Jiminez, Waging Non-Violence (Costa Rica)
