"I feel confident about the fundamentals driving the U.S. economy, the health of U.S. households, and domestic spending," Fed Chief Janet Yellen stated. The Fed noted that unemployment now stands at 5% down from the 10% mark that was hit in the "peak" of the economic crisis in 2009. The Fed raised its expectations slightly for growth next year to 2.4% & also lowered its projection for unemployment in 2016 to 4.7%." Mr. Silver concludes, "When the currency wars began (lowering rates and devaluing the dollar to help bolster the economy), the U.S. was a first mover and as such benefited.
