(firmenpresse) - Jürgen Hossner will join the Management Board of SAM Live! in Munich from January 2016 onwards. SAM Live! offers a “Managed Service” which relieves companies of their manual Software Asset Management (SAM). Hossner was last employed at Microsoft Germany as a Senior Licensing Sales Specialist and Partner Sales Account Manager for Small & Medium Businesses and Partners. The 50-year-old book author and IT trainer is known as an acknowledged expert for Software Asset Management. He is very familiar with the challenges that companies are facing in the area of software compliance and calls for a mindset change.
The qualified Data Technician started his career as a freelance IT Consultant and as a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). Hossner published his first specialist book about the Microsoft operating system Windows XP in 2001. Since then more than a dozen specialist books about Microsoft products have been published. In 2006 Hossner implemented an extensive programme for software user rights revisions in Germany for the software provider from Redmond, before accepting the position of Senior Licensing Sales Specialist in 2009. Amongst other things, the enthusiastic marathon runner successfully held trainings for Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
Software providers are marketing services instead of products more and more. “In many companies the typical product mindset is still dominating”, Hossner recounts as one of the challenges companies will be faced with in the area of software compliance. “However they don''t buy software products or tools, they are buying the user rights” the Licence and SAM Expert continues. A mindset change is required in this particular area especially to avoid under or over-licensing and the subsequent involved costs. “SAM Live! offers the ideal solution to manage the process from software product to service without having to involve cost intensive resources” Hossner explains.
A company such as Microsoft adapts the user rights for every software every three months, as summarised currently on about 100 pages. The Managed Service SAM Live! registers every change automatically, compares it to already purchased rights and informs the user about the current legal situation. “Similar to an anti virus program SAM Live! runs in the background and permanently scans which user rights there are and which ones are required irrespective of the software provider” Hossner explains. A clearly structured dashboard presents the user all essential SAM information in order to have an up-to-date overview of his Software Asset Management at all times. With SAM Live! companies don''t have to acquire the necessary know-how required for an extensive SAM.
