Youth Found Guilty in Terrorism Trial
(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 12/17/15 -- Today, in the Court of Quebec, Youth Division, a 16-year-old was found guilty of committing an offence for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with a terrorist group contrary to s.83.2 of the Criminal Code, and attempting to leave Canada to participate in the activities of a terrorist group, contrary to s.83.181. Sentencing will occur at a later date.
The youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was 15 years old at the time of the offence.
The Public Prosecution Service of Canada is responsible for prosecuting offences under federal jurisdiction in a manner that is free of any improper influence and that respects the public interest. The PPSC is also responsible for providing prosecution-related advice to law enforcement agencies across Canada.
