Plunges Nearly 60 Percent in October; Stands at Lowest Level Since June
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 11/02/15 -- Continued market volatility is taking its toll on the confidence of wealthy investors, according to Spectrem Group''s most recent Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®), which fell by 8 points in October to 6, its second monthly decline. During the same period, the Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) dipped by a third to 4.
The indices, compiled by Spectrem Group, a market research and consulting firm specializing in the affluent and retirement markets, measure the investment confidence and outlook of the 16MM households in America with more than $500,000 of investable assets (SAICI), and those with $1MM or more (SMICI). This month''s survey was fielded between Oct. 14 and Oct. 21.
October''s results underscore growing concerns among Millionaire investors about the state of the markets, and reveal a rising bearish sentiment. For the second consecutive month, Millionaires indicated they intend to stay on the investment sidelines rather than investing.
"Affluent investors have consistently pointed to market conditions as the most important factor affecting their investment plans," said George H. Walper, Jr., president of Spectrem Group. "However, it''s important to note that while Millionaires may be wary in the short term about investing, they remain optimistic longer-term, as indicated in an increase in the October Spectrem Affluent Household Outlook."
