Nexus Exhibits President to Receive First Women in Leadership Volunteer Award

Milena Radakovic, President of Calgary-based Nexus Exhibits, was honored with the Women in Leadership (WIL) President''s Community Champion Award during the North American Women in Energy Forum. Established in 2001, Women in Leadership (WIL) is a national charity that develops female leaders through mentorships, workshops, and webinars, supporting the advancement of women and empowerment of the next generation.
"We created the awards program to recognize the leadership and commitment of our shining volunteers and Milena is the first volunteer to receive this award for Calgary," says Maya Kanigan, Founder & President WIL.
Radakovic helped initiate the creation of the Calgary Chapter about three years ago. At that time there were only four chapters in Canada and that number has almost doubled with WIL Chapters present in 6 key cities across Canada.
"Because of this Chapter, we have been able to initiate a mentorship program, networking events, luncheons featuring female role models and the North American Women in Energy Forum helping women surge to success on their own terms and within a community of support," added Kanigan.
Throughout the years, Radakovic volunteered in various capacities with WIL''s Calgary Chapter beginning with a Co-Chair role then moving into a full Chair position in the second year. At that time, she not only helped start the Women In Energy Forum, but also the Mentorship Programs. She is now serving her second year as the Ambassador of WIL.
Radakovic added, "One does not decide to engage in volunteer activity in order to get recognition. That is why first and foremost I joined WIL was to help women and to promote WIL''s great cause in advancing women in their leadership abilities. It is a matter of having a passion for helping people to find the means to take control of their own lives. This is why the Women of Leadership Foundation is so dear to my heart."
