WhipEye Chronicles Award-Winning Nature Fantasy Thriller May Be Next Potter Says Local Expert
(firmenpresse) - [WhipEye Chronicles](http://www.amazon.com/WhipEye-Chronicles-Book-Volume/dp/0990401308) is fast becoming noted after the first book in the series, WhipEye,won two major awards this summer: 2015 International Book Award (US Book News) and 2015 Outstanding Children''s Fiction (IAN Book of the Year Awards). The fast-paced fantasy thriller also received LitPick.com''s highest rating of Top Choice€”LitPick is the #1 rated site where children review books.
According to Andrew Peterson, Executive Director of IFP (Independent Filmmaker Project MN), €œWith the awards WhipEye has won, people will be interested in looking at it. They won''t want to pass on the next possible Harry Potter franchise."
The author''s entertainment lawyer believes producers will be interested in the project not only because of the awards, but because of its underlying current themes of protecting nature and wildlife. €œIt''s a green book, with the main protagonist, Samantha, an animal nerd," says author [Geoffrey Saign](http://www.amazon.com/Geoffrey-Saign/e/B001K8WXJM). €œThe reader sees the beauty of nature and wildlife through her eyes. Young people will benefit from an uplifting story like this that mixes fantasy with reality and offers a positive alternative to dystopian series such as Hunger Games and Maze Runner." A hundred species of wild animals are mentioned in each book.
The story is named after a supernatural staff, WhipEye, which the children must decipher in 24 hours to save two worlds and a 1,000-year-old wise-cracking parrot from an evil guardian and his enslaved monsters. The two main characters, Samantha and Jake, are also dealing with loss and family issues. Quirky, whimsical, humorous, and unique, this adventure story also has positive underlying themes of love, intuition, and trusting yourself.
€œThis is a story that will appeal to the whole family, especially young girls and boys," says the author. €œHollywood loves stories with great characters and plots, fast openings, and unforgettable endings, but they also like a story with heart. WhipEye has all of that." Readers say the book reads like a movie, and Rick Kogan--WGN Chicago Tribune--says, "Loved the book. It should be a movie."
Gorgon, Book 2, WhipEye Chronicles, has just been released, and is already garnering great reviews.
Author/educator Saign is a nature lover, with a background in biology. Author of several nonfiction books on the environment and wildlife, he is also an adventurer that has studied whales in Boston Harbor, kung fu with an Asian master, and sailed across the Pacific. He teaches novel writing, self-awareness, and speech class, and attempts to get his students outside and into nature as often as possible.
When asked who he sees as actors for WhipEye, he says, €œIt would be awesome if Tim Burton produced it with a younger Emma Stone and Jonah Hill for Sam and Jake, and Johnny Depp or Michael Keaton played the villain Magnar. But the real stars will be the unusual magical creatures and cool animals in the story."
