Southern California Partnership for Jobs Launched to Encourage Infrastructure Investment
Coalition of Labor and Management Formed to Seek Infrastructure Funding for Necessary Projects for the Southland
(firmenpresse) - BREA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/13/15 -- Southern California Partnership for Jobs (SCPJ) is a new advocacy organization in the world of Southern California construction dedicated to improving infrastructure funding and creating career construction jobs.
"With a primary focus on Southern California projects," said Paul Von Berg, Executive Director, "the Partnership advocates responsible investment in public infrastructure projects to help fix our aging transportation networks, water, sewer and storm drain systems, while building for our future needs and economic growth.
"To that end, we will work to educate the public and our elected officials alike to a better understanding of the benefits of these investments," Von Berg noted.
SCPJ is a true partnership between organized labor and construction management that will ultimately represent more than 2,500 construction firms who employ more than 70,000 union workers in the twelve counties of Southern California (Mono, Inyo, San Bernardino, Riverside, Imperial, San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Kern).
Members include Associated General Contractors, Southern California Contractor''s Association, Engineering Contractor''s Association, Building Industry Association of Southern California, International Union of Operating Engineers, Southern California District Council of Laborers, and Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters.
Von Berg concluded saying that SCPJ will ask for support from these organizations and their constituents in becoming informed about the challenges they face together, in raising awareness among others by sharing this information, and by speaking out to their elected representatives to encourage them to ensure proper funding for infrastructure needs as an investment in their collective future.
