It’s a serious time for AAA game releases for the publisher, but they also have some exciting games coming next year and the year after.
At E3 2015, Square Enix sent the gaming industry wild with their Final Fantasy VII remake announcement, which occurred during Sony’s press conference. The game was revealed to be a PS4-timed exclusive, though it is one we might not see for several years from now. Still, it was one of the most electrifying announcements we’ve seen in years.
Square Enix received a lot of praise for working with Sony to create this project and it’s still a hot topic for people to hear about, even now. Recently, Square Enix Europe and Americas CEO Phil Rogers talked about the fateful night that took place back in June of this summer.
“As a whole business we felt humbled. The thing that really surprised me is that during the first three seconds of the trailer, people got it. Some had to wait to the end of the trailer, but for a lot of people they got it instantly. And it was like a wildfire. Everyone involved was delighted. Was that the biggest cheer that night? Was it the biggest cheer of E3? It was certainly a great experience,” Rogers told MCV.
The reaction inside of the LA Memorial Sports Arena was deafening and really, it was hard not to have chills ripple through your body when the cheering occurred. Sony certainly had some fan favorite announcements during their E3 2015 press conference, but the reaction to the Final Fantasy VII remake announcement topped all others, even The Last Guardian.
Currently, there isn’t a release date or a release time frame for Final Fantasy VII’s remake to be launched. We do know it is a PS4-timed exclusive, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the game didn’t come out until at least sometime during 2017.
