Burns & McDonnell Ranks 4th on 2015 MEP Giants Survey
Annual Survey Tracks Growth in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering Services
(firmenpresse) - KANSAS CITY, MO -- (Marketwired) -- 09/09/15 -- Burns & McDonnell has moved up two places to number 4 on the 2015 MEP Giants ranking of top mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering firms by Consulting-Specifying Engineer (CSE) magazine. The top 100 engineering firms distinguished by this award are recognized in the August 2015 issue, online at and at a dinner and networking awards event during September in Chicago.
Revenue generated by Burns & McDonnell divisions providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services totaled $194.8 million, up 38 percent over MEP revenue reported on the 2014 survey. Revenue reported on the 2015 MEP ranking was earned during fiscal 2014 and reflected contributions from several divisions doing work for a broad range of industrial and commercial clients. Burns & McDonnell also moved up two places on the 2014 MEP Giants survey.
According to CSE, Burns & McDonnell also ranked 4th among the MEP Giants firms in a ranking of overall revenue for fiscal 2014. MEP revenue was 8 percent of Burns & McDonnell''s overall 2014 total of nearly $2.5 billion.
The firm''s MEP growth reflects the continued rapid growth of Burns & McDonnell''s Global Facilities Services division, a multidiscipline group specializing in a range of engineering, architecture and commercial construction services for large, complex manufacturing, aerospace, higher education, healthcare and commercial campus facilities.
"Facility owners are looking for more value-driven design and construction services which means we must deliver tightly integrated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection services," said Mike Fenske, senior vice president of the Global Facilities Services division at Burns & McDonnell. According to CSE, the 2015 MEP Giants generated approximately $41.9 billion in gross annual revenue industry-wide, up 6.3 percent from the prior year. Revenue from mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services rose to $6.86 billion industry-wide, a 7.4 percent increase over the prior year.
