Four ways of protection against misuse of names and trade marks at sex-domains
(PresseBox) - Trade mark owners can apply for a non-resolving registration at Sex-Domains.. This is also a solution for companies, which want to protect the misuse of their company names, which are not protected as trade marks.
Given that many companies have not a registered trademark, the best option for them is also to apply for the name which they desire.
Sunrise Period - 1st September 2015: You are eligible to register trade marks as Sex-Domains. Customers of the Sunrise Period must register their brand at the Trademark Clearinghouse
Sunrise B : This priority registration period is for 2011. XXX Sunrise B applicants (from 5th October till 30 October).
Domain Matching : If you own a .XXX domain name you are eligible to purchase the matching string in .Sex before those names become available to the general public. Domain Matching gives existing .XXX holders (as of April 30, 2015) a priority registration opportunity to help ensure brand consistency in our new TLDs. The Domain Matching period is parallel to the Sunrise B.
The General Availability follows after the Domain Matching Period on 4th November.
Joseph M. DiCioccio and Susan Neuberger Weller explain:" In making a decision on how to deal with this new TLD, keep in mind that obtaining a defensive registration is a much more cost-effective method of preventing cybersquatting than is attempting to obtain the domain name later from a third party through, for example, the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy or the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act."
