Aegis Awarded Russian Patent for Non-Invasive Delivery of Triptan Anti-Migraine Drugs
(firmenpresse) - SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/01/15 -- Aegis Therapeutics LLC announced today that it has been awarded its first Russian patent providing expanded coverage for non-invasive delivery of triptan anti-migraine drugs via a simple metered nasal spray. Newly issued Russian Patent No. 2554814, titled: "Compositions for drug administration," covers fast acting drug formulations utilizing Aegis'' Intravail® transmucosal absorption enhancer technology. The Aegis Intravail-based formulation achieves clinically effective drug levels in about 2 minutes -- about 20 times faster than the currently available nasal triptan product.
Aegis now has twenty-five issued patents related to non-invasive delivery of peptide, protein, nucleotide, and small molecule drugs, as well as stabilization and immunogenicity reduction for monoclonal antibody and other protein biotherapeutics, with more than 50 additional patent applications currently pending worldwide.
