The Royal Society of Canada Appoints New Chief Executive Officer: Iris Almeida-Cote
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 08/31/15 -- The Executive Committee of the Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Iris Almeida-Cote as Chief Executive Officer, effective August 31, 2015.

Iris brings to the Royal Society of Canada more than 30 years of senior management experience in the public, private and not-for-profit organizations in Canada and abroad. She is thoroughly in tune with the fundamental academic mission of the Society, and at the same time is experienced in financial risk management, governance and strategic business planning. A dynamic communicator fluent in French, English and Spanish, she is results-oriented and brings rigour, operational excellence and sound financial management to the organisations she leads.
Iris Almeida-Cote holds a Master''s Degree in International Law from the Universite du Quebec a Montreal (2001) as well as a Master''s Degree in Sociology from the University of Bombay (1982). She received her advanced management training at the McGill Executive Institute in Montreal (2005) and at the Canadian Centre for Management Development in Ottawa (1996). Her training in Governance includes Finance and Governance (Services Financiers et Gouvernance) at the College des administrateurs de societes, Universite Laval (2014); Governance for SMEs (small and medium entreprises) at the Institut sur la gouvernance d''organisations privees et publiques - IGOPP (2013); and Gouvernance des etablissements de la sante, at the Association quebecoise d''etablissements de sante et de services sociaux and the IGOPP (2012).
In 2015, she was selected as the recipient of the Director Education Program - Diversity Award by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD-IAS) and the Rothman School of Management. In 2014, she received the Prix de la Reconnaissance (Outstanding Alumni Award) from UQAM, and in 2012, the SME Passport Award from the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec and the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. In 2008 and again in 2011, Iris Almeida-Cote was the laureate of Canada''s Top 100 Most Powerful Women Awards presented by the Women''s Executive Network. In 2009, she received the YWCA Women of Distinction Award and in 2007, she was the laureate of the Prix d''Excellence presented by the Reseau des Femmes d''affaires du Quebec. In 2012, she was selected in the first cohort of Diversity 50, by the Canadian Board Diversity Council, an initiative encouraging the inclusion of women, cultures and youth leadership expertise in corporate boards. She contributed as a mentor to the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation - Loran Awards, the WXN Top 100 Wisdom Mentoring Program and the Foundation for Entrepreneurship.
