(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/31/15 -- Canadian Food Inspection Agency
As part of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency''s (CFIA) annual monitoring of various food products, a report released today found that all children''s food tested for pesticide residues, veterinary drugs, and metals contaminants complied with federal standards.
More than 600 tests were performed on 204 samples, producing over 92,000 results. The testing targeted infant foods such as pureed fruits, pureed vegetables, juices, and infant foods containing meat. Samples were analyzed for pesticide residues, veterinary drug residues, and metals.
All pesticide residues detected were well below maximum residue limits set by Health Canada. None of the samples tested had detectable levels of veterinary drugs. None of the samples tested for metals were determined to pose a health risk. As there were no violations, recalls were not necessary.
