CounterPath Announces Licensing Agreement With European Carrier
European carrier purchases over $800,000 of CounterPath software & services for use in highly secure service
(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/23/15 -- CounterPath Corporation (NASDAQ: CPAH)(TSX: CCV), a developer of award-winning over-the-top (OTT) Unified Communications solutions for enterprises and operators, today announced that a European carrier offering highly secure telecommunication services has selected CounterPath''s Bria Mobile Edition softphones. Under the terms of the agreement, the service provider has initially purchased over $800,000 of CounterPath software and services over the last few quarters, and is now preparing to distribute Bria Mobile Edition softphones to its customers.
According to Forrester Research, there will be over 3.5 billion smartphone subscribers worldwide by 2019, with smartphone penetration exceeding 50% of the global population in 2017. With the rise of Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) programs at work, telecommunication fraud and "hacktivism" have become increasingly common with total losses exceeding $40 billion in value annually according to Cisco. These large losses are driving businesses, governments and consumers towards secure mobile voice and data services, as they aim to protect their corporate assets and reputations from third-party intrusions.
