Start-Up Launches Innovative Wine Purification Product That Removes Sulfites
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 07/22/15 -- Today, Chicago-based start-up, , launches a simple and revolutionary product that makes it possible to enjoy your wine the way the winemaker intended, without the added sulfites used as a preservative. An estimated three million Americans are sensitive to sulfites resulting in allergic reactions or respiratory problems. Üllo purifies all wines, restoring them to their natural state.
Sulfites are an artificial preservative useful for transportation and storage, but are no longer needed once you open the bottle. Developed by founder and CEO, James Kornacki, Ph.D., Üllo purifies wine using a food-grade polymer filter to selectively remove sulfites, while allowing the other compounds in the wine to flow through unaffected. Through Selective Sulfite Capture™, Üllo maintains the original flavor and character of the wine while restoring sulfites to a more naturally occurring level of less than 10ppm.
"My aunt is sulfite sensitive and couldn''t enjoy wine at family gatherings. When I read that others had similar reactions, I felt the need to create a solution. To ensure that his great idea became a reality, Kornacki partnered with MINIMAL, an award-winning Chicago design and brand incubation firm, not only to design the product line but to also create and amplify the brand''s market launch. For enjoying wine by the glass or bottle, the Üllo purifier can be placed on top of a variety of wine glasses or the beautifully crafted Üllo carafe and decanter. Because some wines prefer to be aerated, Üllo can purify and aerate in the same pour. With a simple twist, the purified wine flows through Üllo in a visually delightful helical shape allowing the wine to breathe.
