Celebrity Activist Jazz Jennings Partners With one-n-ten to Promote Transgender Youth Awareness at "An Evening of Jazz" August 8 in Phoenix, Arizona

(firmenpresse) - PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwired) -- 07/14/15 -- Jazz Jennings, 14-year-old celebrity transgender activist, children''s book author and the subject of TLC''s upcoming documentary series "I Am Jazz," will be visiting Arizona as the guest of honor of Arizona''s not-for-profit to support the LGBT youth community and their allies. Jazz and her family will be featured at "An Evening of Jazz" from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on August 8 at the Bentley Gallery, 215 E. Grant Street, Phoenix, Arizona. Highlights of the meet-and-greet event include a book signing of Jennings'' children''s book, "I am Jazz," an art auction, live jazz music performed by the Aletheia String Quartet and a cash bar. The evening will culminate with a speaking program featuring talks by Jazz and her mother, Jeanette. A moderated panel discussion with the Jennings family and a question and answer period will follow.

"To be transgender in our society means finding the courage again and again to overcome bullying, hostility and bureaucratic inflexibility. First coming to national attention in a 2007 20/20 interview with Barbara Walters, Jazz Jennings is one of the youngest transgendered youths to ever take the national stage. Jennings hosts a popular series of videos about her life on YouTube entitled, "I Am Jazz." She has co-written a biographical children''s book by the same name, and will appear in an 11-part TLC documentary series during the summer of 2015 called, "I am Jazz."
one-n-ten is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving and assisting LGBTQ youth. They provide youth from ages 14 to 24 with tools to improve self-esteem and acceptance of who they are by providing access to social programs that promote self-acceptance, leadership development and healthy life choices. Through weekly discussion groups, and supportive youth centers, housing programs, special events and partnerships with national LGBTQ organizations, one-n-ten is building a world where all LGBTQ youth and young adults are embraced for who they are, actively engaged in their communities, and empowered to lead.
