Uncovering The ''Great British Car Journey''
Almost three quarters of parents will bicker with their partner on a long car journey. Two thirds of couples argue over frequency of toilet breaks. New survey sheds light on the dreaded 'Are we there yet?' summer car journeys.
(firmenpresse) - LONDONDERRY, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 07/06/15 -- As parents take a deep breath and begin the anxious wait for the day everything but the kitchen sink is loaded into the boot and the chaos begins, a new survey commissioned by the innovative UK and US-based children''s travel solutions company has cast an eye-opening light on the inner workings of the ''Great British Car Journey''.
The survey showed that almost three in four parents (72%) will row with their partner during a long distance journey (however this was found to be less likely if no children were in the car!).
The survey revealed the most common triggers for arguments were frequency of toilet breaks with 66% of respondents citing them as a factor in bickering, while 61% said there had been words about the mess within the car.
For women disputes over driving style was the most frequent cause of irritation. Other issues likely to result in in-car arguments included speed of driving (57%), sibling squabbles (44%), music choices (33%) and navigation issues (29%).
Whilst music choices accounted for only 33% of the rows between participants, those surveyed between the ages of 21-31 saw music tastes rise to the single biggest cause of rowing on journeys! Similarly, although only 29% attributed finding directions as the main cause, this rises to 58% when the directions were being sought using a physical map!
The survey also revealed children will ask their parents the dreaded ''Are we there yet?'' question within a mere 10 minutes of a journey, with the majority of children asking at least six times during a two hour car trip!
Grainne Kelly, founder of , said:
"Many of us have been stuck in a car on long journeys with our partners and children, it can certainly test our patience! It comes as no surprise that key causes of arguments are speed, driving style and how many pit stops to make along the way."
"It''s paramount that we stay safe when travelling in the car together and keeping arguments to a minimum is an important part of that, as is ensuring your children are in the correct car seats. The car booster seat was born out of frustration and concern for my own children''s safety and our newly launched products, the Sneck and the Junkie have both been designed for fuss free travel with children."
